Credit Repair Can Take Time

Credit Repair Can Take Time

A lot of people don't realize they need credit repair until they are denied for a loan. Then they want their credit score up immediately. But it takes time to dispute the credit bureaus and get responses. The credit bureaus have 30 days to verify your dispute, but that doesn't include stall letter time, mailing time, and everything else that slows you down.

It all depends on the situation though, but realistically 6 months to 1 year is accurate. You could get anywhere from 4 to 6 dispute cycles in there. Building credit doesn't happen overnight, but it can be ruined instantly. Just my 2 cents.

You also have to take into consideration that disputing is only part of the process. Take a look at the credit improvement timeline ( http://archercredit.net/improve-credit-score/ ) and you'll see that "building" credit and "diversifying" credit are a longer process than you think. That's why it's so important to always keep your credit clean. One mistake can upend the whole thing.

Yes, I knew a couple that both had credit score over 800 O(which is amazing). The crazy thing is that they were working on those scores for like 10 years (or something close to that). It was a cool accomplishment but these guys treated their credit score like it was a beloved pet.
